Ranking of Scientists in the Nigerian Institutions According to their GSC Public Profiles

Dear Content Contributor,

This is to bring to your notice, the first edition of ranking of scientists in Nigerian institutions, according to their Google Scholar Citations (GSC) Public Profiles, as published by “WebometricsRanking of World Universities”, an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain.

However, this maiden edition was built with the data collected during the second week of February 2015 from the public profiles of researchers working in the Nigerian and Asian institutions. It is a BETA Ranking of the scientists according to their declared (voluntarily) presence in the Google Scholar Citations database.

Having browsed through the list of the first 500 scientists in Nigeria, we discovered that some of ourscientists would still need to add to their publications manually into the Google scholar. This would help improve our institutional Webometrics Ranking by making our scientists more visible. We are, therefore, using this opportunity to congratulate our own Professor Okanlawon Onagbesan (with H-index = 29 citations = 1938) and other scientists in FUNAAB that made the list.

We advise FUNAAB scientists that are interested in appearing in future editions to sign into these databases by correcting and updating their public profiles. You can as well download the attached power-point presentation for more information. In case you need further assistance, you can visit us at CISLT, Senate Building. We hope that when next the ranking is done, we would have many of our scientistsappearing amongst the first 500 in Nigeria.
