College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT) has won the Men’s Final football match of the 2018 Inter-Collegiate Sports/Vice Chancellor’s Cup.
To achieve this feat, COLPLANT defeated the College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC) 4-2 aggregate in a breath taking penalty kick after a 1-1 draw in a tension soaked match.
Meanwhile, the College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM) emerged the overall winner of the tournament after leading other Colleges on the medals table with a total of 13 Gold, 9 Silver and 11 Bronze.
Following closely in second position is the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) with 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze; and COLPANT stood in the third position with 5 Gold, 5 Silver and 8 Bronze.
With this victory, COLANIM has successfully defended the feat it achieved in 2016, when the tournament was last hosted.
Charging the students and participants during the kick-off of the match, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Lateef Sanni congratulated everybody for taking part in the event, reiterating that the promotion of sports and recreation is one of the 12 points agenda of the Vice-Chancellor assuring that Management is committed to that.
