Abstract
A study was initiated as in situ laboratory approach for screening the potentials of the crude cashewnut shell liquid (CNSL) incorporated with sodium chloride (table salt) as eco-friendly fungicide against white and brown rot fungus. Terminalia ivorensis wood sample prepared to size 5 x 2.5 x 1.5cm were treated with the fungicide at 2%; 4%; 6%; 8%; and 10% concentrations employing dipping and pressure
techniques. The fungicide was found to totally protect the wood of Terminalia ivorensis at 10% concentration pressure treated. The study shows that incorporation of sodium chloride with CNSL resulted in the protection of Terminalia ivorensis against basidiomyceteous fungi.
