Short Profile

Rufai, Munirat Olaide (Nee Abatan) is an Assistant Lecturer in the department of Animal Production and Health, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. She is a budding animal behaviour and welfare researcher, who has worked so far with broiler chickens and pigs, and has plans to explore and interact with other class of Monogastric animals in the near future. Miss. Abatan M.O. completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with a first-class honour and a distinction respectively, at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Her Bachelor’s degree project is titled – Effect of two light sources on the behaviour of broiler chickens at the starter phase while her Master’s research investigated the responses of broiler chickens to apple cider vinegar administration as an antibiotic alternative. She currently takes Introductory Animal Behaviour and Welfare course for undergraduate students. She also actively assists with student assessment, conduction of practicals (on-farm and laboratory), and serves as one of the level advisers for undergraduate students.
