The Bursary Department of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, January 6, 2026, held its New Year Prayer Meeting at the University’s Red Chamber, bringing together members of staff in an atmosphere of praise, worship, exhortation, and heartfelt prayers to usher in the year.

Delivering a Goodwill Message, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde described the Bursary Department as a vital “key” to the University’s success and stability, noting that its effectiveness significantly contributes to institutional growth and harmony.
Represented by the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, the Vice-Chancellor reminded the attendees that life itself is a divine gift, urging all present to consciously prioritise their health and well-being.

Earlier, the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga, called on staff to embrace gratitude and thanksgiving as guiding principles for the new year. He encouraged them to seek God’s forgiveness, set clear and purposeful goals, and remain steadfast in supporting the University’s vision and objectives throughout 2026.

The prayer session featured intercessions led by members of the Department. Mr. Akinkunmi Bello offered prayers of thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness in the past year, while Mrs. Rita Akinleye prayed for divine protection over all members of staff. Prayers for the progress and growth of the Bursary Department were led by Mrs. Faslat Balogun, and Mr. Tajudeen Sanni prayed for the University Management and the entire community, seeking divine wisdom and guidance.
Goodwill messages were also delivered by the Bursar of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), Mrs. Olufunso Adedokun; Ag. Director, Directorate of Internal Audit, Mr. Kehinde Ajayi,; Mr. Valentine Egbuna, and Mrs. Margaret Omisope.

Their remarks were marked by words of encouragement and strong support for the Bursary Department. The prayer meeting was widely described as a fitting and spiritually uplifting way to commence the year, as the Department collectively sought God’s guidance and blessings for the University’s activities and aspirations in 2026.
