The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, has commended the efforts of all staff of the University that served at various levels during the just concluded general elections in the country.

The Vice-Chancellor gave the commendation at a Management meeting, held in the Conference Room of the University’s Public Relations Directorate, last Thursday.

It will be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor was also appointed as the Returning Officer for Ogun State during the elections, with the responsibilities of announcing the results of the Presidential and Gubernatorial elections.

It was also noted that the bulk of the Returning Officers used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for the 20 Local Government areas of Ogun State, were sourced from the ranks of the Academic and Non-Teaching staff of the University.

Professor Balogun said it was a welcome development and that he was very surprised to see a lot of his staff, engaged for the national assignment.

The Vice-Chancellor said the caliber of officials used for the exercise further lend credence to the polls credibility, thereby commending the University staff for proving their mettle in ensuring that people’s votes counted.

Though UNAAB Bulletin could not have access to the full list of the University Staff that participated during the elections, as at Press time, but it can authoritatively reveal that Dr. Biodun Badmus (COLNAS) and Dr. O.M Sogunle (COLANIM) served as Returning Officer and Collating Officer, respectively at Obafemi/Owode Local Government while Dr. Adebayo Oni (COLANIM) was at Imeko/Afon; Dr. Festus Adeosun (COLERM), Sagamu; Dr. Israel Abiala (COLNAS), Abeokuta South; Mr. Peter Akinlabi, Deputy Registrar, Student Affairs also served as Collating Officer in Odogbolu.
