1.Eagle-eyed security personnel of the Sheriff Deputies screening students on one of the Holding Points.
2. A no nonsense Invigilator, Chairman, ASUU-FUNAAB, Dr. Biodun Badmus (Left) on duty in one of the Centres.
It will be easier for a Camel with hunch-back to pass through the very tiny eye of a needle than for any student of the University to cheat in the ongoing 2012/2013 First Semester Examination.
This was the conclusion of FUNAAB Bulletin Crew after monitoring the conduct of examination at all Centres on Friday.
For one, our Crew observed the presence of eagle eyed security outfit, the Sheriff Deputies and the ‘Internal Rapid Response-Environmental Management Unit, which screened students and took position vigilantly within and outside the examination halls.
Besides, the no-nonsense invigilators, notably the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, FUNAAB Branch, Dr. Biodun Badmus and Dr. Eniola Fabusoro spared no effort in ensuring that no student play a fast one on them.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Toyin Arowolo, Chairman, Time-Table Examination Committee (TIMTEC), Dr. Ikechukwu James, the Director, Exams and Records and Special Duties, Mrs. Christiana Kuforiji, Ag. Head, Information and Communication Technology Resource Centre (ICTREC), Dr. Olutayo Ajayi were on guard against malpractices at Centres visited by our crew.
As a matter of fact, movement of students to and from the examination halls, as well as the seating arrangement totally discouraged malpractices. Check it out.
STAGE 1 (STEP-DOWN VENUE)
This is the first port of call for students writing the examination. In FUNAAB parlance, it is known as STEP DOWN. This is where the candidates are hosted or lodged in a spacious hall or under a sprawling canopy, preparatory to their movement to the next port of call. For those who are conversant with Airport operations, FUNAAB Examination Step Down is like Departure Lounge.
STAGE 2 (HOLDING POINT)
This is the transit point or movement from STEP DOWN to the examination hall. It is known as the Holding Point. Here students proceed reverently to the waiting hands of invigilators and security men who scrutinized their examination requirements like a typical Airport scenario, this is where eligible students are giving “body pass” and check into the examination hall.
STAGE 3 (EXAMINATION HALL)
This is the “nerve centre” so to say. It is the venue for the examination proper. Here you find eagle-eyed invigilators who are fully at alert. The sitting arrangement is such that two students occupy a long bench or chairs in a role.
One is seating at the extreme end while the other is at the tail end of the same modern bench. The gap in between them is so wide that even the man with the longest neck in the world wont be able to “Giraffe” (peep) into the work of the other.
