The University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako has enjoined Muslims to imbibe the teachings and lessons of Ramadan during and after the holy month Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Development), Professor Lateef Sanni, he said this at 29th Ramadan Lecture of FUNAAB Muslim Community.
Thanking the Muslim Community for the cooperation, peace and tranquility enjoyed by his Administration, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that it helped a lot to the success of the just concluded 2017/2018 Academic Session.
He admonished students to face their studies and shun examination mal-practices and other social vices in order to graduate in due course even as he thanked the Alumni for their continuous support.
Prof. Salako congratulated the Muslim Community and enjoined them to also use the month to pray for the progress and continuous peace on campus.
Delivering a Lecture titled, “Truthfulness: An Insignia of a Devout Believer”, the Guest Lecturer, Ustaz Abdul- Hakeem Kolawole defined truthfulness as a state of being truthful to Almighty in actions and in words.
Ustaz Kolawole who asked Muslim to be truthful no matter the extent of persecution, believe in all prophets and embrace good behaviour, highlighted bad roads, insecurity, power outage, collapsed family structure, social vices, political instability and more as some of the consequences of untruthfulness in the society.
Earlier, the Amir of FUNAAB Muslim Community Professor Kehinde Okeleye appreciated the University Management for her cooperation on issues bordering on faith, admonishing worshippers to be strict in observing justice and be witnesses for Allah even when it hurts though it is against them.
He thanked the Muslim Community for the cooperation enjoyed so far in building the Mosque, begging them not to rest on their oars as the completion of the Mosque is a joint task.
Speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Ibrahim Atanda thanked the University Management for creating enabling environment for religion to thrive in the University.
He admonished the Muslims to be truthful in all their dealings to the Community and the society at large so that their names and the religion will not be given a bad image.
Others at the lecture were, the University Registrar, Dr. Hakeem Adekola, Pioneer University Librarian, Dr. Taofeek Salisu, immediate past University Librarian, Dr. Mulikat Salam and some notable personalities within and outside the University.
