The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN).

The Award which coincided with the 57th birthday of the Vice-Chancellor was received on his behalf by the spouse, Professor (Mrs.) Elizabeth Abidemi Balogun at the 44th Annual Conference of the Society, held at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

The President of the Society, Dr. J.C Okonkwo said the Fellowship was bestowed on Professor Balogun in recognition of his outstanding contributions, both at personal and official levels, to the development of agriculture in the country.

Professor Balogun was applauded for his invaluable efforts at enabling the country to achieve the objectives of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) through food sufficiency, poverty alleviation and rural development.

In a Keynote Address delivered at the occasion, the Acting Head, Department of Animal Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Dr. Seidu Oseni, while speaking on Understanding the Impact and Challenges of Climate Change on Sustainable Food Security, said the impact of the scourge will be pronounced in increased sea level rise and heat wave.

Also inducted are the Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adesida and the Executive Director, Natural Agricultural Seeds Council, Abuja, Chief O.J Shobowale.

It was witnessed by a high-power delegation of the University, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Chryss Onwuka, the Ag. Registrar, Mr. Leke Adeboye and CODAD Chairman, Prof. Daisy Eruvbetine
