OMEMU Adebukunola Mobolaji (Nee ADESEMOWO) is a Professor of Food Microbiology and Safety in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism, College of Food Science and Human Ecology, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). Prof Omemu had her first degree in Microbiology, M.Sc. and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Food and Industrial Microbiology
Prof Omemu started her academic career in FUNAAB as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Microbiology. She was seconded to the Department of Food service and Tourism in 2012 and she became a Professor (Food Microbiology and Safety) in 2015. She served as the Ag. Head of Department in the department of Food service and Tourism from 2012 to 2014. When the department was renamed, she became the first Head of department, Hospitality and Tourism from 2014 to 2016. She then served as the first female Deputy Dean of the Post Graduate School, FUNAAB from 2016 to 2019. She is presently the first Female Dean of students, FUNAAB.
Her research focus is on the microbiology and safety of indigenous African foods; detection and control of food borne pathogens especially in street vended foods, food safety from farm to fork. She has several publications in reputable national and international Journals. She has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of food microbiology, food safety and nutrition.
She is one of the African woman scientists who won the two years African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) Post Doctorate Fellowship (2010 to 2012)-a fellowship Programme for bridging the gender gap of leadership in Agricultural Research and development.
