The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, September 12, 2025, hosted the leadership of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Tricycle Repairers, Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ogun State Chapter, in a visit of gratitude that highlighted the University’s role as a catalyst for community transformation and moral reorientation.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, applauded the Association’s commitment to leadership and character development. He described ACOMORAN’s evolution from skill-based operators to value-driven leaders as a testimony to the power of knowledge and discipline, pillars which FUNAAB consistently upholds.

The Vice-Chancellor particularly commended the Ogun State Chairman of ACOMORAN, Mr. Kayode Sowunmi, describing him as a “record-breaker” whose innovative leadership philosophy has reshaped the identity of the Association. He encouraged him to sustain the momentum, noting that his vision would inspire generations beyond the present.

In his response, Mr. Sowunmi expressed profound gratitude to FUNAAB for its enduring partnership, describing the day as one of “joy and thanksgiving.” He recalled that at the onset, many had questioned the relevance of an academic institution’s collaboration with their trade. However, the Association’s steady interaction with the University revealed the truth: “character and value are the true fuel of progress.”

According to him, the moral and intellectual exposure gained through FUNAAB has not only produced better riders but also more responsible parents, neighbours, and citizens. He pledged that ACOMORAN would continue to deepen its collaboration with the University, in line with the global call for quality education and partnerships that advance sustainable development.
