The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, July 11, 2025, played host to the leadership of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycles and Motorcycles Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ogun State Chapter, as the Association seeks partnership with the University to enroll its members in the newly introduced Philosophy and Leadership Programmes.
During the Courtesy Visit, held at the Green Chamber, ACOMORAN formally declared its intention to sponsor members to participate in the Certificate and Diploma Programmes in Ethics, Leadership, and Moral Development being offered by the Philosophy and Leadership Studies Unit under the Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS).

The suite of academic offerings, which included a Certificate in Moral Development, Certificate in Leadership Management, Advanced Certificate in Professional Ethics, Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Ethics, and Master’s Degree in Professional Ethics, was introduced to the ACOMORAN team, who warmly embraced the initiative as a timely intervention in shaping character and leadership among their members.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, the State Chairman, Mr. Kayode Sowunmi, JP, said, “We are here to officially express our interest in these academic programmes and to discuss ways our members can benefit from them, while also making a few formal requests to the University Management as we prepare for the Programme’s commencement.”

Receiving the team on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, emphasised the University’s commitment to its Tripodal Mandate of Teaching, Research, and Extension services. He noted that FUNAAB’s impact on society, including innovations like the specially bred Alpha chicken, was a testament to the University’s research capacity and its responsibility to transfer knowledge to stakeholders such as farmers, traders, and community-based groups.
He, however, described the partnership with ACOMORAN as a mutually beneficial initiative, stating that participants would be awarded certificates bearing FUNAAB’s name, a mark of academic excellence, and integrity. He also hinted at the possibility of a rebate for ACOMORAN-sponsored candidates, adding that such opportunities could encourage broader community participation.
The visit featured a robust interaction between both parties and had in attendance key members of the University Management and academic community, including some Programme Leaders of the Institute and Frontline Officers of the University.
