The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Nigeria, is set to host the launch and first in-person session of the Agroecology and Organic Agriculture Leadership (AOAL) Course from September 15–19, 2025. The flagship programme marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainable agriculture and leadership development across Africa.
Structured as a Nine-Month Hybrid Initiative, the AOAL Course was designed to equip emerging and established leaders with the skills and knowledge to strengthen agroecology and organic agriculture systems. The programme is organised by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) in partnership with the Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria (NOAN), under the Agroecology Promotion Programme (APP) Capacity Building Project, with funding support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The first in-person activities would be held at FUNAAB’s Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE). Delegates from IFOAM, national leaders of NOAN, course facilitators, and participants are scheduled to arrive on campus on September 14 and depart on September 20.
FUNAAB’s selection as host reflects its growing international reputation in agricultural research, innovation, and education, particularly in agroecology and organic food systems.
