The need for the Federal Government to restore Management Science courses into the academic programmes of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has again been re-echoed.
The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo made the appeal while receiving the 2021 Federal Government Visitation Panel to FUNAAB in his palace.
Addressing the Panel’s Chairman, Prof. Akaneren Essien and members, Oba Gbadebo welcomed the team specially to Abeokuta and his Palace, in particular.
The Monarch noted that Management Science is part and parcel of modern day Agriculture, saying that taking away Management from Agricultural Practice is like taking away the act of management from the Military or Medical Practice.
The Alake informed the Panel that the university land is suffering from encroachment appealing to the Federal Government to assist FUNAAB with fund to fence the university’s land and prevent it from encroachment.
Oba Gbadebo called on the Government to also help FUNAAB in expanding its Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS) from the level FUNAAB is handling it saying that with the expansion, research efforts in the university will spread more to the ordinary farmers and the people at large.
The Monarch who is passionate about FUNAAB’s development recalled the university’s days of trailblazing saying , “We want FUNAAB to be First again”.
He charged the Panel members to find time out and relax after getting busy saying, “I know you will be very busy looking into the books in the next one month. But please, find time to go through Abeokuta town. Visit the Presidential Library, Adire Market and our 18-hole Golf Course among others”.
