Director, COBFAS, Dr. Joe Atungwu The President, University Alumni Association, Prof. Lateef Sanni.
The President of the University Alumni Association, Professor Lateef Sanni has described the contributions of the body to the FUNAAB since inception Twenty-Five years ago as wonderful.
Professor Sanni spoke even as another frontline member of the Association, Dr. Joe Atungwu called on the Management to reposition Alumni towards driving the campaign for fund raising and sustainable development.
Delivering his presidential address at the 16th Annual Convention and 15th Annual Lecture Series of the Association, Prof. Sanni said “Alumni contribution to FUNAAB at 25 has been wonderful, encouraging and worthy of emulation”
He stressed that, “our members are members of Senate, Congregation, Convocation and Convocation representatives in the Governing Council of the University. Our members won laurels for the University in national and international competitions, research, partnership, grants, conferences, consultancy and global visibility”, he added.
Professor Sanni enjoined the management to engage the Association and other stakeholders in decision making for the University.
Corroborating him in his lecture titled, “Strategizing The Alumni for Sustainable University Development”, the Guest lecturer, Dr. Jonathan Atungwu, an Alumni of the University called on the Management to reposition the Alumni as catalyst for fund raising and sustainable development.
He observed that “today, the Alumni Relations and Development Office is run by only one officer. He is the head, the messenger and the Secretary. I would like to advocate that alumni office be upgraded to a Centre in the University with full fledge administrative and technical staff”
“The Centre can then be positioned to be responsible for fund raising and providing services for the University’s national and international community of Alumni”, he added.
