The Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has commenced the New Year with a special prayer session for the Centre and the entire University Community.

In his Opening Remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olusegun Idowu, commended AMREC for sustaining the annual New Year prayer initiative since its inception. He noted that God rewards those who praise Him, stressing that thanksgiving opens doors to unexpected opportunities. Describing prayer as the “master key,” the Vice-Chancellor encouraged staff to remain steadfast in prayer and to always remember the University in their personal supplications.

Prof. Kehinde further enjoined staff to uphold professionalism as a core value and to carry the spirit of the prayer into their daily duties by serving with diligence, integrity, unity, and faith. He expressed confidence that, with God’s help, FUNAAB would reach greater heights in fulfilling its Tripartite Mandate. He prayed that the New Year would usher in renewed vision, productivity, and breakthroughs for AMREC and the University, adding that FUNAAB’s programmes would be strengthened, partnerships expanded, and its impact on farmers, communities, and the nation further enhanced.

In his Goodwill Message, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, urged staff members of AMREC not to relent in appreciating God, describing the Centre’s role in FUNAAB as indispensable. He emphasised the importance of professionalism, teamwork, and discipline, noting that AMREC serves as a vital link in extending research outcomes to farmers. Prof. Dairo also advised staff to be good ambassadors of the University and to contribute positively to its development.

The Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, in his exhortation, called on all present to continually praise God for the gift of life, stressing that gratitude attracts more blessings. He urged staff to put God first in all their dealings, to shun anti-social vices, and to embrace good character. Dr. Adeniyi further enjoined members of staff to promote peace wherever they find themselves, particularly on campus, and not to postpone their salvation, noting that only God knows what tomorrow holds.

Earlier, the Director of AMREC, Prof. Jacob Olaoye, expressed appreciation to the University Management for its consistent support and commended AMREC staff for their tireless commitment to the Centre’s progress. He acknowledged God’s protection over staff, especially during extension visits to rural communities, noting that AMREC had every reason to continually give thanks.

The programme featured prayers for the Vice-Chancellor and the Management Team, FUNAAB, as well as the Director and staff of AMREC.
