The Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), has handed over Hydraulic Press Machines to farmers in Adao and Olorunda communities of Ogun State.
Speaking at the Ceremony, the Director of AMREC, Professor Felix Salako, disclosed that the provision of the machines, was jointly initiated by AMREC and Cassava: Adding Value for Africa (C:AVA), urging the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by taking good care of the equipment.
He added that the machines will help to reduce hardship faced by farmers
and improve productivity by facilitating easy and faster cassava processing.
Professor Salako then advised the farmers to strictly adhere to tutorials on the usage of the machines and avoid undue rancor over joint usage of the machines by farmer groups.
The Director assured that C:AVA will not relent in assisting rural farmers in other areas of need.
Responding, on behalf of the farmers, Alhaji Akorede Oladunjoye, lauded C:AVA/AMREC initiative for the donation, promising that the farmers will live up to expectations and make good use of the machines.
He solicited for more assistance from government and private organizations, seizing the opportunity to appreciate recent donation of Thresher Machines by AMREC, to farmers in the South West part of the country.
