The Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has organised a Send-forth Party for three of its members of staff, recently deployed to other Units in the University, as a serving corps member in the Centre also completed their service year.
The members of staff were Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Oluwalana, Mrs. Sakirat Giwa and a youth corps member, Miss Ifeoluwa Olootu.
Speaking at the occasion, the immediate past Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Sam Oluwalana described AMREC as a pathway to agricultural revolution.
He stated that the fufu (Cassava flour), produced in the University is safer for consumption, cautioning people to be wary of what they eat, as some producers of fufu outside the University allegedly use detergent for its fermentation.
According to him, the practice could be detrimental to people’s health, as he commended the efforts of the Centre in educating the people in the rural areas, noting that AMREC had been a wonderful link between the scholars and the villagers.
He further admonished all to maintain exemplary conduct that could benefit others, stating that the lesson learnt from the Send-forth party is that “whatever anyone does today, determines the future”.
The Chairperson, Welfare Committee, Mrs. Mary Bandipo, said the party was organized to honour the staff that had worked diligently.
The redeployed staff were described by their colleagues as loving, cheerful, versatile and knowledgeable, while the youth Corp member, Mrs. Ife Olootu, was described as “a wonderful, hardworking, dedicated and jovial person”.
Responding, the redeployed staff expressed their appreciation to the Centre for the befitting Send-forth Party.
