The Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku Foundation (AOJF), in collaboration with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, August 1, 2025, awarded research grants to 10 outstanding students of the University, in honour of the late Prof. Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, were selected based on the innovation, uniqueness, and compliance of their research proposals with the Foundation’s standards.

Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, extolled the virtues of the late Prof. Jiboku, describing him as a revered Academic, seasoned Chemist, and visionary Educationist. Quoting the Bible, he remarked, “Sweet is the memory of the righteous,” in reference to the indelible legacy left by the late scholar.
Prof. Kehinde applauded the initiative of the AOJF, established by the children of the late Prof., for upholding their father’s legacy by promoting academic excellence through strategic support for student research. He emphasised that the selection process was merit-driven, transparent, and devoid of external influence.
Welcoming guests, the Chairman of AOJF, Dr. Idowu Jiboku, expressed appreciation to the University Management for its support and collaboration. He charged the beneficiaries to remain focused, give back to society, and contribute meaningfully to the development of their alma mater.
In his remarks, the Foundation’s Director, Mr. Obawunmi Jiboku, commended FUNAAB’s progressive outlook and strong online presence. He reaffirmed AOJF’s commitment to advancing leadership and research excellence, noting the steady growth in the number of applicants and awardees. He encouraged more students to participate in future editions.

Also speaking, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun, congratulated the recipients and urged them to deploy the funds strictly for research purposes. He charged them to uphold the values of excellence expected by the University and the Foundation.
The Head of the Department of Chemistry, Prof. Abideen Adeogun, expressed deep gratitude to the Foundation for its continued generosity and support to student researchers.
The highlight of the event was the formal presentation of the research grants to the 10 awardees, eight from the Department of Chemistry and two from the Department of Biochemistry, by the Vice-Chancellor.
