The University has been chosen as one of the institutions to benefit from the Competitive Agricultural Research Grants Scheme of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN).
The ARCN Team Leader, Dr. Shuaib Madugu, disclosed this during the verification visit by members of the Council to the University, recently.
The Team Leader applauded the “meticulous and exceptional style of proposal writing of UNAAB”, an attribute he said contributed to the approval of seven proposals, already earmarked for funding, from the University.
Dr. Madugu expressed his satisfaction with available facilities in the University, noting that they favourably meet with the stipulated criteria for benefitting in the Research Grants.
Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun said that 22 of the 23 proposals originally sent to ARCN scaled through to the second stage while seven were eventually approved.
The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Dev), Prof. Segun Lagoke, said the grant would assist the University to actualise its food security mandate for the nation.
