ABSTRACT
Spacings of 2m, 4m and 6m had significant edicts on Biomass production of tree crops (Ieucaena and Gliricidia) and maize grain yield. The 2m spacing produced the highest biomass (3394.0kgfha) which \VHS significantly different (0.01) from productions at 4m (I 885.8kgfha) and 6m (1542.3kgfha).

Even though Leucaena produced more biomass than Gliricidia the difference of 320.7kg/ha was not significant at 0.05 probability level. Significant effects (0.01) were also noticed between maize grain yields at different spacings as the 6m spacing produced less maize grain (4044kg/ha) compared with the 4m (4758k8tha) and the 2m (47 I 8kg/ha). There were no significant differences in maize grain yield between the 2m and 4m spacings. Trec crop eOcct was not significant as maize yields under Leucaena (4361 kg/ha) and Gliricidia (4652kg/ha) were similar to the control treatment (3885kg/ha). The 2m spacing also produced significantly more Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium than the 4m and 6m spacings. Though Leucaema produced more of these nutrients than Gliricidia, the differences were not significant at the 5% level.
