… As Cleric Urges Christians to Live Meaningful, Purposeful and Christ-Centred Lives

Late Deaconess Victoria Osinuga, wife of the Bursar of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Mr. Olukayode Osinuga, has been laid to rest in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, with a call on Christians to live meaningful, purposeful and Christ-centred lives.
The Funeral Service, held today, August 21, 2026, at the Christ Apostolic Church (Mount of Blessing), Oke-Ibukun, Isabo DCC Headquarters, Essien Region, Abeokuta, brought together family members, members of the FUNAAB community, colleagues, church members and well-wishers who gathered to honour the deceased and celebrate her life and legacy.
Delivering the sermon, the officiating minister, Pastor Peter Idowu, urged Christians to live with eternity in view, stressing the need to prepare for the day of judgment and remain steadfast in their faith in Jesus Christ.
Pastor Idowu noted that Jesus Christ came into the world to redeem humanity and demonstrate the path of righteous living, urging believers to reflect their faith not only through their words but also through their actions and daily conduct.
He cautioned Christians against deceiving themselves or attempting to deceive God, noting that God knows the true condition of every individual’s heart. He, therefore, encouraged the congregation to examine their lives and ensure that their relationship with God was genuine, rather than relying solely on outward religious practices.
The cleric described the late Deaconess Osinuga as a true believer in Christ who lived a life of faith and devotion to God. He expressed confidence that she had completed her earthly journey and gone to rest in the bosom of the Almighty God, urging the bereaved family and loved ones to draw comfort from the assurance of her eternal rest.
He further reminded the congregation that human life is temporary and called on them to live purposeful lives, remain faithful to Christ, and seek God’s grace to overcome life’s challenges.
Pastor Idowu concluded by encouraging Christians to hold firmly to their faith in Jesus Christ, assuring them that those who remain faithful to Him would receive the grace to fulfil God’s purpose for their lives and ultimately attain eternal life.
Born on July 14, 1967, in Igbore, Abeokuta, the late Deaconess Victoria Osinuga married Elder Olukayode Osinuga on July 11, 1992, and passed away on August 5, 2026.
She was described as a devoted Christian, a soldier of Christ, a woman of faith and a loving mother in Israel. Her remains were interred at the Christian Cemetery, Ijebu-Ode.
Among the dignitaries who attended the Funeral Service were the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, and his wife, Prof. Iyabode Kehinde; the Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi; and former Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun.
Also present were serving and past Principal Officers of FUNAAB, including their counterparts from other universities in the Southwest, as well as several other notable dignitaries, who joined the family in bidding farewell to the deceased.
