The regional center runs a number of programmes aimed at developing capacity for integrated water resources management in the region. They include specialized workshops, short-term courses and long-term courses. The workshops are basically demand-driven to tackle identified problems in the water sector.
The short-term courses are 3-days modular training organized for targeted groups in the water sector, these kinds of courses include:
1. Climate Change and IWRM
2. Surface water Development and IWRM
3. Groundwater Development and IWRM
4. Gender Mainstreaming and IWRM
5. Community Participation and IWRM
6. Integrated River Basin Management
7. Rural Water Sanitation and IWRM
8. Environmental Health for Sustainable Livelihood
9. Water Governance, Administration and Finance

The long-term courses are more specialized professional training for high level manpower in the water sector. They include: Post Graduate Diploma (12 months) and Master of Science (18 months) in the following areas of specialization:
1. Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)
2. Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion
3. Water Quality Management
4. Irrigation and Drainage Technology
5. Dams and Reservoir Management
6. Hydrogeology and Drilling Technology
7. River and Watershed Sedimentation and Hydraulics.
