Change of Leadership at COLPHYS: Prof. Makinde Takes Over as Dean

The College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has witnessed a smooth transition of leadership as Prof. Victor Makinde officially assumed office as the new Dean, succeeding Prof. Adio Akinwale.

At the handover ceremony held on July 31, 2025, Prof. Akinwale, who also served as Chairman, Committee of Deans and Directors (CODAD), commended his successor as a humble, hardworking, and unique academic leader capable of advancing the College’s vision.

In his remarks, Prof. Makinde expressed gratitude to his predecessors, especially the pioneer Dean, Prof. Oluyemisi Eromosele, who was also at one time, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, appealing for collective support from staff to move the College forward. He emphasised the need for unity, cooperation, and adequate funding to achieve success.

Present at the event were distinguished scholars, including the Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Gboyega Adebayo; pioneer Dean of the College of Computing (COLCOMP), Prof. Oluwasefunmi Arogundade; Former Dean, COLPHYS, Prof. Amidu Mustapha; Prof. Idowu Osinuga; Prof. Abideen Adeogun, Prof. Itunu Okeyode, and Dr. Emmanuel Ilojide, among others.

They all commended Prof. Akinwale for his visionary leadership and significant contributions to the growth of the College.
