The Chinese Government is poised to partner with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), to establish a Chinese Language School on campus. The initiative is aimed at enhancing Continuous Professional Development, fostering Enterprise Industrial Education, and deepening mutual academic and cultural ties.

During a pivotal meeting held today, October 25, 2024, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde stressed FUNAAB’s commitment to impactful collaborations that would benefit the University community. Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the potentials for staff and student exchange programmes, joint degrees, research partnerships, and additional collaborative ventures.

Leading the Chinese delegation, Mr. Chris Wang from the Chinese Ministry of Education, Beijing, China, and Mr. Tope Anthony, Public Relations Manager of the Ogun GUANGDONG Free Trade Zone (Ogun FTZ), presented an overview of the initiative. They both underscored the benefits of establishing a Chinese Language School at FUNAAB, to equip students with practical skills by utilising local resources and bridging theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience.

The meeting concluded with a tour of key campus facilities, including the 3MW Hybrid Solar Project, Oil Palm Processing Factory, the Central Laboratory at the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), as well as the 500-Seater, 250-Seater and the new 250-Seater Computer Laboratories. As a gesture of appreciation, FUNAAB presented the Chinese delegates with a hamper of the University’s products.

Among the attendees were the Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun; Director, Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS), Prof. Remi Aduradola, and the Director, Centre for Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Prof. Adeboye Fafiolu.

Others were the Ag.
