The Centre for Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is set to begin the 2025/2026 Academic Session Farm Practical Year (FPY) Orientation Programme from Monday, September 1 to Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building, starting at 9 a.m. each day.
With the theme “Agriculture in the Modern World: Navigating the New Reality and Complexity,” the week-long programme has been designed to acquaint students with the objectives, expectations, and operational framework of the Farm Practical Year, an integral component of FUNAAB’s academic curriculum.
The Orientation would serve as a platform for bridging classroom theory with real-life practice, offering participants deeper insights into contemporary agricultural issues and strategies for adapting to evolving industry demands. It would also highlight the critical role of experiential learning in fostering professional competence, innovation, and self-reliance among students.
Coordinated by COBFAS, the Farm Practical Year remained one of FUNAAB’s flagship initiatives, tailored to provide hands-on experience, sharpen entrepreneurial skills, and strengthen students’ capacity for driving modern agricultural development.
