The College of Computing Sciences (COLCOMPS), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on September 26, 2025, flagged off the maiden edition of its Career Acceleration Programme (C-CAP), a strategic initiative designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry while preparing students for the global tech ecosystem.

Declaring the programme open on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Head of Department, Animal Production and Health (APH), Prof. Lawrence Egbeyale, commended the vision of COLCOMPS and the commitment of its alumni network, including the C2 Tech Mentors (G-18), in driving capacity-building opportunities for students. He applauded the onboarding of 85 final-year students for the first round of training under the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations Certification, describing it as a life-changing opportunity that would provide participants with a competitive edge in the labour market. He urged students to remain dedicated to the mentorship journey, stressing that the University remained committed to equipping students with skills that meet industry standards.

Earlier in his Welcome Address, the Dean of COLCOMPS, Prof. Oluwasefunmi Arogundade, described the programme as a landmark human-capacity development initiative powered by collaboration between the College and its alumni, who are now accomplished professionals across the globe. She highlighted that the C-CAP would focus on four key objectives, which are bridging academia and industry, preparing students for career advancement through resume and interview readiness, mentoring on real-life tech projects, and inspiring them to thrive in the ever-evolving technology landscape. The Dean encouraged students to maximise the mentorship platform, emphasising that it could become a defining step in their career journeys.

Speaking on behalf of the mentors, the C2 Tech Team expressed gratitude to the College for embracing the collaboration. They acknowledged the senior Academic staff of COLCOMPS who nurtured them as undergraduates and pledged to give back through training, facilitation of industry certifications, mentor–mentee pairing, and support for securing SIWES placements in leading IT organisations.

The event also featured an interactive session between mentors and mentees, formally setting the tone for a year-long programme of mentorship, training, and career acceleration.
