The College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC) and the BIOTECH Centre on December 12, 2024, held a Step-Down Training for Academic staff and Technologists on FUNAAB’s Research Ethics Policy.

In her Opening Remarks, the Dean of COLFHEC, Prof. Adebukunola Omemu, emphasised the importance of promoting ethical research practices. She explained that the training was aimed at familiarising participants with the policy’s principles, reinforcing FUNAAB’s position as a leader in quality research in Nigeria and aligning with global best practices.

Corroborating the Dean, the Director of the BIOTECH Centre, Prof. Olufunke Shittu, provided an overview of the policy, focusing on its relevance to researchers and institutional integrity. Prof. Ganiyat Olatunde, COLFHEC’s representative on the University Research Committee (URC), clarified the roles of the College Research Committee (CRC) and the University Research Ethics Committee (UREC), highlighting their complementary functions in ensuring ethical compliance.

The session ended with breakout discussions and an interactive Q&A, addressing practical applications and challenges in research ethics. The Training reaffirmed FUNAAB’s commitment to ethical excellence in research.
