The College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, April 1, 2026, organised a special appreciation ceremony to honour four distinguished former staff members for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the College.
The event, held at the Postgraduate School Auditorium, brought together staff, dignitaries, and stakeholders to celebrate legacies of excellence, mentorship, and innovation.

Among the honourees were the 5th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Olusola Bandele Oyewole; a former Dean of the College, Prof. Michael Idowu; a former Head of the Department of Home Science and Management (HSM), Prof. Julia Eni-Olorunda; and a former Director of the Directorate of Technologists and Technical Staff (DITTECS), Mr. Abraham Ojo.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde described the occasion as a significant moment set aside to recognise individuals whose contributions have made lasting impacts on the University. According to him, the honourees played pivotal roles in shaping the academic and administrative landscape of FUNAAB, noting that their legacies continue to inspire both staff and students.
Earlier in her Welcome Address, the Dean of COLFHEC, Prof. Adebukunola Omemu, stressed that universities are built not only on structures and policies but on the commitment and passion of individuals devoted to advancing knowledge and shaping future generations. She described the honourees as exceptional scholars and mentors who dedicated a significant part of their lives to teaching, research, and institutional development.

“This ceremony is a celebration of legacy,” she said. “It is an acknowledgement that the College stands taller today because of individuals who gave their all to build something greater than themselves.” Prof. Omemu further noted that the College’s reputation, quality of graduates, and research achievements are products of years of sustained commitment by dedicated staff.
Guests and associates at the event also paid glowing tributes to the honourees, describing them as visionary leaders, exceptional mentors, and individuals of strong moral character. They highlighted their roles in fostering unity, encouragement, and a strong sense of community within the College.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the prestigious “COLFHEC ICON” Award, alongside gifts to the honourees in recognition of their meritorious service and enduring legacy.
