It was showers of encomium on the Deputy Registrar I, Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Mr. Peter Akinlabi who bows out of the services of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) after his meritorious service over the years.
Appreciating God’s grace on Mr. Akinlabi’s life, the Registrar, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola congratulated the retiree, saying that not everyone that started the race ended it. Dr. Adekola who was represented by the Deputy Registrar II, Council Affairs, Mr. Moses Ayanda described Mr. Akinlabi as a very humble man, a good leader who led by giving vision and not target.
On his part, the Director, CEADESE, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi appreciated God for the life of Mr. Akinlabi and for making him retire gracefully from the University. Prof. Akinyemi described Mr. Akinlabi as a complete gentleman that is sound with University administrative procedure, an experience which he brought to the fore, when he was appointed the Registrar, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State.
Others who spoke of Mr. Akinlabi described him as a father, with useful counsel, a neat man with a neat record, humble and a good role model.
Responding to the accolades, the retiree appreciated CEADESE staff for the honour. He described FUNAAB as a university with reputation, which was his driving force when he was appointed the Registrar of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic. He prayed that members of staff would live to enjoy the fruit of their labour after their disengagement from service.
The peak of the programme was the presentation of a gift to Mr. Akinlabi by the Director, CEADESE.
