The University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, has described the impending transition of the University into a conventional institution, as directed by the Federal Government, as a dream comes true.
Professor Balogun said this while delivering his address at the University’s Matriculation Ceremony for the 2010/2011 Academic Session, held at the Julius Okojie Lecture Theatre Complex. The Vice-Chancellor lauded the decision, saying it has put paid to the yearning of the Ogun State people, particularly those of Egbaland, who had been craving such opportunity for long. He also observed that the pronouncement by the Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyat Rufa’i, that specialized higher institutions should go conventional, was in tandem with his vision statement as articulated while vying for the Vice-Chancellorship. Professor Balogun reiterated that Management would soon inaugurate relevant Committees to design the modalities for transiting into a conventional University as well as “package priority programmes that will meet the yearnings of parents of the teeming candidates, who are always seeking admission, to study choice courses in conventional Universities outside Ogun State”. |
