The Council for the Regulation of Engineering (COREN) Accreditation Team to the College of Engineering (COLENG) of the University, has concluded its assignment.
While briefing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole and Principal Officers of the University on the exercise, the Chairman of the COREN Accreditation Committee, Engineer Olumuyiwa Ajibola, said the final report had been prepared but will first go to COREN for approval before it can be presented to the public.
He added, “Some had thought we are not friendly whereas we are only being objective. On the whole, I will say we have done our work on equitable manner and in a way that will enhance the performance of the University, especially, COLENG”.
The Chairman, who is the immediate past President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) said, “First of all, it is commendation for FUNAAB for maintaining a beautiful landscape; well laid-out, which is conducive for learning”.
He also said: “we noticed that very high percentage of Technical Staff have registered with COREN. This is commendable. I am sure the Management is enjoying some of their contributions to the development of the University”.
Among others, the Accreditation Team’s Chairman stated that “the University will also be commended for strictly committing itself to adherence to standard academic calendar”.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, expressed the commitment of the University to academic excellence while the Dean of COLENG, Professor Samuel Adejuyigbe disclosed that, “the Accreditation Team actually dug deep into our records, going into areas, looking into offices.
I can say that they have done a thorough job, we are happy working with them. I think they are happy working with us too”, he added.
