COVID-19: FUNAAB Staff Turnout Massively For Vaccination …As Dir. Health Services Promises Another Round of Campus-Wide Vaccination

Staff of the Federal University Abeokuta (FUNAAB), have once again displayed their responsiveness to their civic responsibilities during the conclusion of another round of the ongoing COVID-19 Vaccination exercise conducted by the University in conjunction with the Ogun State Ministry of Health.

                In a survey conducted round the various venues where the vaccinations were being held, the crew of FUNAAB Bulletin spoke with the Vaccination Team Validator, Mr. Femi Ogundoyin from the Ministry of Health, Ogun State, who stated that the mission of the team is to vaccinate the students and staff of the university since the government has provided adequate vaccination material for all.

He noted that the team had been moving from one College to another to carry out the vaccination as he equally commended the staff and students of the University for their massive turn-out and peaceful conduct.

Corroborating this, the Director Health Services, Dr. Abiodun Amusan said that the instruction to carry out a Campus-wide vaccination was a directive from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to all Tertiary Institutions across the country.

                The Director, Health Services however commended staff of the University for their massive turn-out for the vaccination, stating that over 80% of the staff populace had been vaccinated so far.

                Dr. Amusan assured that the University in conjunction with the State Ministry of Health will carry out another round of vaccination, with the team to be stationed at the Students’ Centre after the examination or immediately the students are resuming for another session to enable students who are writing examination and yet to be vaccinated be. He equally charged staff yet to be vaccinated to take advantage of the next round of vaccination that will come up soon to do so.

                He also charged anyone that is vaccinated to ensure he or she is electronically registered and given his vaccination card, which, according to him, will be handy and useful should such a fellow wish to travel to foreign country.

On his part, Mr. Olugbenga Alayode, one of the University staff being vaccinated at the point of interview, said he feels fulfilled carrying out his civic responsibility as he had just taken his second jab of the vaccination.
