The German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) has appointed Prof. Olufemi Ojo, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Desk Officer for the German Consulate in Nigeria and the immediate past Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), as its Research Ambassador for Nigeria.
The prestigious appointment, which spans a two-year term from 2025 to 2027, was officially conferred on Prof. Ojo during a special event held on April 24, 2025, at the German Embassy in Accra, Ghana.
DAAD Research Ambassadors are distinguished academics and researchers who have studied or conducted research in Germany and are selected to promote German academic and research opportunities within their home countries. In this new role, Prof. Ojo is expected to actively encourage students and researchers to consider Germany as a destination for quality academic exchange, research collaboration, and capacity development.
His appointment not only underscored his outstanding contributions to international academic cooperation but it has also placed FUNAAB in a strategic position to deepen its engagements with German institutions and promote global research partnerships.
The University Management, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has congratulated Prof. Ojo on this well-deserved recognition and expressed confidence in his capacity to serve as an inspiring bridge between Nigerian scholars and German academic institutions.
