The Vice-Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, has described Web 2.0 as catalyst for socio-economic development of organizations and the nation at large.
Declaring open a Workshop on Web 2.0 at the University’s Senate Chamber, Professor Balogun who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Segun Lagoke, said Web 2.0 has underscored the importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in all facets of life.
He described the Workshop which has as its Theme, “Web 2.0: Tools for National Learning Opportunities”, hosted by UNAAB as part of the Management’s efforts at boosting Web 2.0 and ICT in the University.
The Vice-Chancellor recalled that recently, the present Management established a distinct
Webometrics Centre, for the University to compliment the efforts of the Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICTREC).
Welcoming guests and participants to the Workshop, the Director of the University’s Centre for Internationalisation and Linkages (CENIP), Dr Olukayode Akinyemi, charged participants to take advantage of the training, not only to better their knowledge of ICT but to train others for the overall development of their various organizations.
