The kickoff ceremony and workshop for the DIGICULTURE Project, aimed at promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Ogun State through digital innovation and technology has been slated for Tuesday, June 11, 2024, by 11:00 a.m. at the Postgraduate School Auditorium.
A memo released by the Principal Investigator and Project Leader, Prof. Olusegun Folorunso stated that the project was sponsored under the 2023 Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) National Research Fund (NRF), and would be hosted by the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
The memo further stated that the research project, titled “Development of Digital Tool to Explore and Predict Cultural Identities of ‘RIYE’ (Remo, Ijebu, Yewa, and Egba) people of Ogun State, Nigeria,” has been dedicated to harnessing the power of technology to showcase the State’s diverse cultural attractions, traditions, and historical sites.
The initiative would enhance the visibility and appeal of Ogun State’s cultural offerings, contributing to the growth of tourism and cultural exchange.
