DITTECS, NISLT Partner to Build Future-Ready Laboratory Professionals

The Directorate of Technologists and Technical Staff (DITTECS), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), is set to organise a capacity-building workshop aimed at equipping Laboratory Technologists and Scientists with the skills required for professional excellence in the modern workplace.

The workshop, themed “Building Future-Ready Laboratory Professionals: Essential Hard and Soft Skills for Academic and Workplace Excellence,” is scheduled to hold on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Green Chamber, FUNAAB.

According to a statement issued by the Director of DITTECS, Dr. ‘Wunmi Abimbola-Okuneye, the programme would commence at 10:00 a.m. and is designed to strengthen the technical and interpersonal competencies of laboratory professionals, enabling them to adapt to the evolving demands of academic and professional environments.

Dr. Abimbola-Okuneye explained that participants would gain practical knowledge on emerging trends in laboratory practice, professional ethics, effective communication, teamwork, leadership, and other essential skills required for career advancement and improved service delivery.

The Director further noted that the initiative reflects FUNAAB’s commitment to continuous capacity development and to promoting best practices in laboratory science through strategic partnerships with recognised professional bodies such as NISLT.
She encouraged eligible participants to take advantage of the workshop, describing it as an opportunity to acquire relevant competencies needed to remain effective and competitive in today’s rapidly changing scientific and technological landscape.

Meanwhile, the workshop is expected to attract Laboratory Technologists, Scientists, researchers, and other stakeholders from within and outside the University community. It would also provide a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and professional growth.
