For a nation to have adequate food supply, the government at the Centre needs to invest heavily in the procurement of agricultural infrastructures.
This was the opinion of Professor Oladele Gazaal of St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA, while delivering a Lecture titled “Speedsters & Laggards: Regulation of Hypothalamic Secretion” organized by the Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources & Agricultural Research (IFSERAR) of the University, recently.
Professor Gazaal called on the government to vote more money into agriculture and education, saying the two areas are critical to the development for any nation.
He disclosed that a Speedster is one who travels at high speed, while a Laggard moves, develops or responds slowly or sluggishly and Hypothalamus is a component of the diencephalon; the floor of the third ventricle in the brain.
He pointed out that hypothalamic functions include: Control of food intake, control of reproductive functions, maintenance of body temperature, control of the cardiovascular centre, among others.
Professor Gazaal appreciated the entire University Community for their hospitality during his stay in the University and also appealed to every citizen to work for the progress of the country.
The Chairman of the Lecture, Professor Okanlawon Onagbesan and the Director of IFSERAR, Professor Segun Osinowo, commended the Guest Speaker for his academic prowess and the depth of the Lecture.
