The Dean, Student Affairs, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Samuel Oluwalana, has said the only way to defeat HIV/AIDS by Nigerians, is to live a proper lifestyle.
Professor Oluwalana disclosed this while giving his Opening Address at a Lecture organized by the Youth Future Savers Initiative (YFSI) in conjunction with the Student Union of FUNAAB, to commemorate the World AIDS Day with the theme “Getting to Zero: A Campus Free of New HIV Infection.
The Dean cautioned that people should avoid excessive consumption of junk foods but rather vegetables and fruits to strengthen human immune system.
While urging Nigerians to be morally upright, Professor Oluwalana gave kudos to the organizer of the Lecture and called on the Student Union executive to keep the flag flying.
In his Lecture, an alumnus and Programme Director of YFSI, Mr. Akintayo Akinpelu, enumerated ways by which HIV/AIDS can be avoided to include, appropriate blood transfusion, sterilization of sharp instruments before usage and the use of condom, for safe sex.
Mr. Akinpelu called on the public to stop discriminating against people living with HIV/AIDS in the community.
