MAKINDE, Eyitayo Adekunle

Short Profile

Prof. Makinde, Eyitayo Adekunle, a Professor of Crop Nutrition/ Olericulture, was born on 15th November, 1961. After his secondary education in 1978, he attended the School of Agriculture, Akure to acquire an Ordinary Diploma Certificate in Agriculture (1980). He proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Ibadan for his B. Sc. Agriculture – Crop Science (1986); M. Sc. Agronomy (1991) and Ph. D - Farming Systems (1999). He worked with Oyo State Agricultural Development Project/Programme (ONADEP / OYSADEP) as Research Officer; Senior Enumerator and Subject Matter Specialist – Crops, between 1988 and 1992. He also lectured at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan between 1992 and 2010, starting as Lecturer II, rising to Principal Lecturer before crossing to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), as Senior Lecturer (2010); Reader (2013) and a Professor of Olericulture (2016). He was Head of Department, Crop Production Technology at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (2006 – 2010) and a member of the College Academic Matters Committee. He was the Acting Head (2013 – 2015) and substantive Head, Department of Horticulture (2017 – 2019), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He was the National Coordinating Scientist, Organic Agriculture Professionals in Tertiary Institutions (OAPTIN) from 2019 to 2023. He is the Editor – In – Chief, FUNAAB Journals, since 2021. He has attended several Conferences and Seminars and has supervised over 100 Undergraduate students; about 30 Masters’ Degree students and has graduated 3 Ph. D students. He serves as a reviewer to many International reputable journals. He has published about 83 journal articles, both in National and International Journals and about 25 peer-reviewed Conference articles.
