MSC Okolo was educated at the University of Calabar, and then at the University of Ibadan where she received her PhD in Philosophy. She also has a PGD in Public Relations. A CivitellaRanieri Fellow, she is the author of Winds on my Mind, Gates of Dawn, Memoirs of an Exiled Girl, Contesting the African Public Sphere, African Literature as Political Philosophy, Philosophy: Contemporary Concerns in Africa and co-author of Essentials of Communication in English for Nigerian Universities and has contributed to many academic journals. She is the recipient of CODESRIA Doctoral Prize for Africa in 2005. A creative writer and scholar, Okolo’s research interests include African literature, African identity, language and political philosophy.
