The Management of FUNAAB, has commended the Directorate of University Farms, for holding its second In-House Workshop Programme, to review its activities for last year.
At the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole, appreciated the staff of DUFARMS and challenged them to develop a strategic plan on how to successfully run the various arms of the farm on a full commercial scale. The Vice-Chancellor revealed that the University’s vision was to float the FUNAAB Fish Company and FUNAAB Pineapple Company which he said DUFARMS has showed commitments to key-into.
Delivering the keynote address at the event titled, Managing People, Team Work and Delegation, the Director, Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), Professor Akin Omotayo, noted that human beings were the most important resources of any organization and that when people are properly managed, teams would easily work together for common goals.
The Acting Head, DUFARMS, Mr Michael Jaiyeola, thereafter thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his passion for DUFARMS and for his vision to ensure that the Farm was transformed into a full-fledged commercial farm in the nearest future. He said the main reason for hosting the workshop was to evaluate what DUFARMS had been able to achieve in terms of revenue generation.
