The Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS) has organized a befitting Send-Forth in honour of its outgone Director, Mr. Michael Jaiyeola.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, the Chairman, Professor Isaac Aiyelaagbe noted that Mr. Jaiyeola had the opportunity to express his ideas and impact on others, his wealth of experience, saying that he was glad that the Celebrant did not retire with all his ideas but was highly impactful on the University Community.
Professor Aiyelaagbe described the former Director as a man of contentment, integrity and a workaholic who does not take what does not belong to him, noting that some people steal because they are not sure of their tomorrow.
According to him, the outgone Director has set precedence and has written a culture of excellence and commitment in the University, noting that Mr. Jaiyeola transformed the Farm Center, brought back the Yam Roasting Festival and started the Sport Fishing Festival.
The Chairman congratulated the celebrant for a successful career and retirement, saying that not everyone that starts a career returns alive; he prayed for abundant health and great strength in his future endeavours.
Showers of encomiums were poured on the Celebrant by Professors, colleagues, friends, present and former staff of DUFARMS, who described him as a practical man, a leader, a mentor, a trainer, a father, an imparter, a team leader and an encourager, among others.
In his response, the pioneer Director, DUFARMS appreciated Management, members of staff of DUFARMS and the entire University Community for the opportunity given to him to contribute to the development of the institution through DUFARMS, saying that though he is retiring, he is not tired.
Many staff and well-wishers honoured and rejoiced with Mr. Jaiyeola, they include the former Dean, Student Affairs Division, Professor Yemi-Akegbejo Samson, the former Director, Biotechnology Center, Professor Olufunmilayo Adebambo, Dean, College of Animal Sciences (COLANIM), Professor Oluwaseyi Oluwatosin, Dean, Student Affairs Division, Professor Babatunde Idowu, his wife Professor (Mrs.) Funmilayo Babatunde Idowu, the Director, Community Based Farm Scheme (COBFAS), Professor Emmanuel Fakoya and Dr. Akinpelu Ojo.
