Course Synopsis
The important fishes of West Africa with emphasis on Nigeria species. Classification,
evolution, morphology and basic structure of fishes. The adaptation of fish to aquatic
life. Life cycle of principal species of fishes. Significance of fishes in the life of
Nigerians. The fish industries in Nigeria. Fundamental principles of fish management
and production.
