The Senate of the University has conferred the status of University Scholars on five of the newly-matriculated students of the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, disclosed the fact, while delivering his Matriculation address for the 2010/2011 Academic Session, last Wednesday.

Professor Balogun said the scholarship award was in recognition of the exemplary performance of the students in the admission screening process for the current academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor said as University Scholars, the five students will enjoy free hostel accommodation of their choice on the campus and automatic invitation to the University’s Night of Excellence.

He therefore charged them, not to rest on their oars, promising that the University will always assist enterprising students to fulfill their destinies while promoting scholarship and good character.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that overall best student in each College with Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of not less than 4.0, will benefit from the University Scholarship Award, throughout the period of studentship, provided the grade progress was sustained.

The five lucky students are: Ademowo, Oluwabunmi Elizabeth, Biochemistry; Akinrotoye, Ayomide Solomon and Adisa, Olaitan Karimot, of Computer Science. Others are Odedina, Omolade Temitope, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Hassan, Rauf Olayiwola of Civil Engineering.
