The Executive of the University’s Student Union (FUNAABSU) has commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole and other Principal Officers of the University for the high level of maturity they exhibited, while calming the frayed nerves of students, who were protesting the killing of their colleagues by a reckless driver (not a member of the University Community) on Friday. Speaking with FUNAAB Bulletin, the President of FUNAABSU, Mr. Tope Adesipo, who disclosed that the protest was hijacked by non-students of the University said it was almost getting out of hand until the timely intervention of the Vice-Chancellor restored normalcy. He stated that the Vice-Chancellor who was accompanied by fellow Principal Officers was not just at the scene of the protest, “he was cool, calm and focus while telling the students not to take laws into their hands”. Adesipo stressed, it takes a committed father, a true child of God and a seasoned Administrator like our Vice-Chancellor to bring the Friday incident under control”. Adesipo commended Professor Oyewole for also responding to their demand on the day of the incident promptly. FUNNABSU President, however, called on fellow students to cultivate a prayer life, or improve on it by frequently asking the Almighty for His divine protection. He also charged them to be mindful of their environment. Adesipo prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and their relations the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
