The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has been recognised as one of the Top 10 African universities with the best teaching skills, ranking 7th on the prestigious list compiled by Times Higher Education (THE).
This achievement was a testament to FUNAAB’s commitment to providing high-quality education and exceptional teaching skills, which were critical components of the University’s mission.
The ranking highlights FUNAAB’s dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment, innovative research, and producing graduates who are equipped to make a positive impact in their respective fields.
According to the Times Higher Education Teaching Index, FUNAAB scored an impressive 79.0, placing it among the top universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The recognition underscores the University’s position as a leader in academic excellence and its role in driving development goals such as alleviating poverty, economic growth, and sustainable development.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed his delight at the achievement, stating that the ranking was a reflection of FUNAAB’s commitment to providing exceptional teaching skills and a world-class learning environment.
He, therefore, appreciated the hard work and dedication of all staff members and students, saying that “we shouldn’t rest on oars.”
It would be recalled that earlier this year, the University emerged as the best University of Agriculture in Africa and 7th globally.
Recently, the University came 1st in the SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and 3rd in Nigeria in the THE Impact Ranking.
Meanwhile, the data for the ranking was gathered directly from universities (continuous and evidence data, following the logic of the data THE collects in its Impact Rankings), current students (as part of the student survey), and THE’s partner Elsevier (bibliometrics data).
