The Alumni Association of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to promoting academic excellence and student welfare through its annual scholarship programme.
At the scholarship award ceremony held on October 15, 2025, at the Alumni Secretariat on campus, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the Alumni Association for its continued investment in students’ academic growth and development.
Prof. Dairo in his personal capacity and visibly delighted by the Association’s gesture, announced his decision to sponsor scholarships for five students through his family’s Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). He urged the beneficiaries to remain worthy ambassadors of FUNAAB, both within and outside the University.
Earlier in his Welcome Address, the Global President of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, Mr. Bolaji Gbadamosi, expressed satisfaction with the growing impact of the scholarship initiative and congratulated the new recipients.

He explained that the Alumni Scholarship Initiative, launched several years ago, has continued to expand through the generous support of alumni branches and individual donors worldwide. According to him, the first phase of the initiative was sponsored by the Association’s United States branch, which provided full scholarships to selected students.
Mr. Gbadamosi also acknowledged other notable contributors, including Bishop Felix Owolabi, who offered partial scholarships and made generous donations to the Man O’ War and Rotary Clubs, as well as Prof. Subuola Fasoyiro, who fully sponsored students from the Department of Food Science and Technology, College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC).
He noted that most beneficiaries had already received their scholarship funds through the UNAAB Microfinance Bank, while others would be credited in due course, adding that, in line with the Association’s commitment to transparency and accountability, all payments were processed through the University’s ICT Services platform.

In his remarks, the Association’s Secretary, Mr. Femi Ajayi, lauded Bishop Owolabi for his sustained philanthropy in supporting education nationwide, and appreciated Prof. Fasoyiro for her consistent dedication to student empowerment and academic advancement.
Mr. Ajayi further highlighted FUNAAB’s rising global reputation, noting that the University was recently ranked the best University of Agriculture in Africa and seventh globally.
He encouraged the scholarship beneficiaries to remain disciplined, diligent, and cooperative with the University Management, assuring them that the Alumni Association remains committed to supporting their academic and personal development.
The well-attended event drew students, alumni, and University officials, all of whom commended the Alumni Association for its continued commitment to fostering academic excellence, mentorship, and lifelong learning among FUNAAB students.
