The Alumni Association of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has honoured a distinguished Academic and mentor, Prof. Adewale Dipeolu, popularly known as “Uncle Wale,” with a borehole project at the CEADESE AGRECOFARM Greenhouse.
Commissioned today, September 8, 2026, the project was conceived as a practical expression of appreciation for Prof. Dipeolu’s enduring contributions to the development of students and his positive impact on the University’s alumni community.
Facilitated and fully funded by the FUNAAB Alumni Association, the borehole was commissioned by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who described the initiative as a reflection of the enduring bond between the University and its alumni.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated Prof. Dipeolu and Prof. Morenike Dipeolu for their immense contributions to the development of students and for building a legacy worthy of emulation within and beyond the University. He described the Global President as a consistent partner in progress.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Global President of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, Otunba Bolaji Gbadamosi, commended Prof. Dipeolu for his years of dedication to students and the University. He said the Association remained committed to giving back to its alma mater and recognising individuals who had contributed significantly to students’ growth.
“As alumni, we cannot afford to neglect our alma mater, and because of the personality of Prof. Dipeolu, we have promised to do more before he retires from the service of FUNAAB,” the Global President stated.
He also commended the Vice-Chancellor for his support and commitment to strengthening the Alumni Association’s developmental role, disclosing that the project was funded through contributions from some illustrious Alumni like the Executive Director of the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI), Prof. Lateef Sanni; United States Top Naval Officer, Lt. Commander Victor Agunbiade; Mr. Kunle Awosika; Mrs. Bola Ogbodu and Mrs. Abimbola Kuku-Afolabi.
Responding to the honour, Prof. Dipeolu expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the support he had enjoyed since assumption of office as the University’s 7th Substantive Vice-Chancellor and for the opportunity to serve. He also appreciated the Alumni Global President and all contributors to the project.
Prof. Dipeolu, a former Dean of the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD), further acknowledged the European Union for providing him with the opportunity to contribute to the progress and achievements recorded by the University.
The well-attended ceremony concluded with a tour of the Greenhouse facilities, highlighting FUNAAB’s commitment to agricultural innovation, sustainable production and practical solutions that support food security.
