The importance of continuous learning and academic excellence among younger students took centre stage at the 12th edition of the FUNAAB Alumni Career Talk, organised by the Alumni Association of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, charged the students to embrace knowledge as a tool for success. Addressing the select group of secondary school students, he emphasised the transformative power of information and encouraged them to cultivate a habit of lifelong learning.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the students to remain curious and diligent, noting that reading and seeking knowledge would enable them to excel in their chosen fields.
The Chairman of the Abeokuta Branch of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, Mr. Alaba Oguneye, represented by Mr. Sanjo Somefun, observed the Career Talk as an initiative designed to guide students in making informed career choices. He further underscored the critical role education plays in achieving personal and professional goals, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to inspire future leaders.
In his remarks, the Global President of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, Mr. Bolaji Gbadamosi, also addressed the gathering. He encouraged students to consider FUNAAB for their tertiary education, highlighting the University’s global reputation for excellence in academics, its state-of-the-art facilities, and its distinguished faculty in agriculture and other related disciplines.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Oluwaseun Hamzat delivered an inspiring speech, urging students to surround themselves with positive influences that could elevate their educational journey. He advised them to maximise educational opportunities, sharpen their communication skills, and believe in their ability to achieve greatness.
Participating schools included FUNAAB International School, Isolu; Nawair-ud-Deen High School, Obantoko; Adeline Ogunlade Memorial Secondary School, Obantoko; Faith Heritage College, Eleweran; Egba Comprehensive High School, Asero; Four Square International High School, Obantoko; Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School, Osiele; Federal College of Education Model School, Osiele and Muslim High School, Isolu.
The event served as a platform to empower students with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration needed to excel in their future careers.
